Privacy Policy

Steagus Publishing builds offline-first software. Our approach to your data is simple: we don't want it. We collect as little as possible for the purposes of selling you a product and to support you afterward, and we never sell it. We are not in the data business.

This policy covers publishing.steagus.com and the software we publish. Steagus Games, at games.steagus.com, is built for a younger audience and has its own privacy policy.

Our software

Our software runs on your own computer. Everything you enter or import, including your expenses, vendors, receipts, library, tags, playlists, and settings, is stored locally on your device. Your records never leave your machine unless you choose to export them yourself.

We receive nothing from the software. There is no account, no telemetry, no analytics, and no usage reporting of any kind. The software does not send us your data, and it does not tell us that you are running it.

Some features need the internet to do the job you asked them to do. Abisam, for example, can look up album and track information from MusicBrainz and fetch artwork when you ask it to. Those requests go to that service, not to us, and carry only what is needed for the lookup. Schedule C Expense Tracker makes no network requests at all.

Your license key is checked on your own computer. Validation is local, so the software does not contact us to confirm your license, and we do not learn when or where you use it.

What we receive

When you buy our software, the purchase is handled by our payment provider (currently FastSpring), which acts as the Merchant of Record and processes your payment under its own privacy terms. To complete and support your purchase, we receive your name, email address, and order details from that provider. If you contact us through the form on our website, we receive only the information you choose to enter there.

How we use it

We use the information we receive for three purposes: to deliver your purchase, to provide support, and to notify you of updates, fixes, or important notices for the product you bought. These messages are part of owning the product. We do not use your information for any other purpose.

We also offer an optional newsletter with product news and announcements. Signing up is entirely voluntary and completely separate from buying anything. Purchasing a product does not add you to the newsletter, and if you decide to subscribe to the newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time. We send newsletter email only to people who have asked for it.

What we never do

We never sell your data, and we never share it beyond what is needed to fulfill your order and communicate with you about your product. We do not track you, build advertising profiles, or hand your information to data brokers. There is no analytics tracking inside our software, because the software collects nothing in the first place.
